Overview
Brief Description: The Level 1 Network Infrastructure Technician will provide project assistance, and support of the Manufacturing (Level 1 & 2) networks, including design, installations, and maintenance. This position is expected to work with the Level 1 Infrastructure Engineer, and the production departments to ensure the highest level of security and up-time of this critical part of the business.
Responsibilities
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Installation and maintenance of Network Equipment associated with operational control of the steel mill under the guidance of the Level 1 Infrastructure Engineer. Some tasks include but are not limited to:
- With guidance, able to work with departments to identify current and future business needs.
- Assist with Design, Configure, and manage the installation of new, or upgraded manufacturing network infrastructure equipment.
- Assist with Standardizing equipment, configurations, and spares inventory for the entire site.
- Assist with the Development and maintenance of technical documentation, including disaster recovery plans.
- Assist with the monitoring network tools to ensure optimal networks performance and uptime.
- Assist with training of shift support personnel on how to monitor and troubleshoot network performance.
- Assist with the implementation and support of the Operational Network Firewall configuration and installation.
- Assist with maintaining Firewall rules and virus protection software and data security systems to keep operational data and communications protected.
- Be willing to provide Operational Network support to each department should it be needed.
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to operational systems.
Qualifications
Experience/Requirements:
Required:
- 1 years’ experience implementing network infrastructure, project management, design, configuration, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience implementing and maintaining a Microsoft Windows server environment.
- Strong willingness to learn and grow your skillset.
- Ability to take guidance and work in a group environment to achieve goals.
- B.S. Computer Science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Scripting Languages
- Familiarity working with industrial processes / networks.
- Familiarity managing a VMWare infrastructure.
- Familiarity with SAN’s and ISCSI
- CCNA or CCNP
