Job Summary
The Network Engineer is accountable for the delivery and support of Customer Services within the Optus Customer product suite. Focusing mainly on the Design, Activation, and Testing functions and supporting activities. They have specialised knowledge in Layer 2 and 3 for all Network platforms and IT systems used in the provisioning of enterprise services.
The Network Engineer primary function is to act as an exception handling SME when any provisioning issues occur that cannot be resolved by the vendor or when Non-standard solutions are required to meet a customer requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review error messages against the provisioned solution and use their fault-finding skills to resolve complex issues and/or engage with the relevant technical support groups to get the issue resolved
- Engage with the relevant Solutions Architects, Planning teams Technical Specialists and Product teams Engineers to ensure the solution meets the requirements of the customer and is aligned to the plan.
- Complete the manual provisioning of the non-standard solution in the relevant IT systems and network platforms, or action any overflow the vendors are unable to action within business KPI’s.
- Effectively communicate with all parts of Optus at all levels, to facilitate the efficient and customer focused delivery of services.
- Provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders to help develop technical E2E solutions, resolve complex technical issues, or provide service provisioning solutions to enable the delivery of customers services in line with customer requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of new products and technologies that are to be deployed across the Optus network.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree, Technical diploma or other suitably qualifications or experience in the field of telecommunications.
- Relevant telecommunications experience in Data products.
- Experienced in provisioning on Ethernet DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, SDH, MSTN, JUNIPER, DSL.
- Experience of Helix provisioning systems or comparable provisioning tools.
- Excellent problem solving, coordination and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- High level of customer focus, for both internal and external customers.
- Experience in routing protocols is beneficial.
