Loyola University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Telecom Attendant to join our team. This role is vital for ensuring seamless communication across our facility. Reporting to the Telecommunications Manager, the Telecom Attendant is responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Call Management:
- Receive and transfer incoming calls to the appropriate extensions.
- Monitor and assist with outgoing calls for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel experiencing difficulties.
- Answering Service:
- Provide computerized answering services for clients and handle calls in their absence.
- Take and relay messages, logging all calls received by the answering service.
- Keep software information updated and current.
- Paging and Announcements:
- Page appropriate individuals and transfer calls according to instructions.
- Page over the loudspeaker system when necessary, maintaining a daily log of all overhead pages.
- Page “Emergency Codes” to indicate emergency situations throughout the hospital.
- Schedule Management:
- Receive on-call schedules from various departments and physicians, relaying appropriate information upon request.
- Security Coordination:
- Contact Security via radios and direct them to various hospital areas in response to problem situations reported to Telecommunications.
- Record Maintenance:
- Maintain up-to-date records of physicians’ office addresses and phone numbers.
- Maintain current contact information for hospital management personnel.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Evaluate environmental safety and ensure compliance with National Patient Safety Goals.
- Stay informed of developments in the field through Healthstream assignments, workshops, and pertinent literature.
- Shift Rotation:
- Be willing to rotate to any shift as required.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Conform to established Standards of Behavior and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Completion of a High School Diploma or its equivalent
