Location: LondonJob Summary:We are seeking an experienced Electrical Safety Engineer to take on operational responsibility for all electrical standards and safety matters within our organisation. In this pivotal role, you will ensure a safe system of work, oversee authorisations, enforce compliance, and promote a culture of safety and innovation across our projects.Key Responsibilities:Electrical Safety Management:
- Implement and audit Electrical Safety Rules across all sites.
- Oversee and manage Senior Authorised Persons (SAP) and Authorised Persons (AP) to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Plan and conduct monthly electrical safety audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations and industry standards.
Records and Compliance:
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electrical safety records and audit schedules.
- Coordinate and lead investigations into electrical incidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement.
Training and Development:
- Facilitate HV (High Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) training sessions for team members.
- Recommend appropriate specialist PPE and oversee its proper use on all projects.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training packages to enhance the electrical safety knowledge and competence of all staff.
Culture and Innovation:
- Promote a culture of openness, trust, and continuous improvement within the electrical safety domain.
- Assist in subcontractor reviews to ensure compliance with safety standards and practices.
Qualifications & Skills:Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory codes and standards, including the 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
- Familiarity with HV and LV systems, with the ability to accurately assess electrical risks and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Experience with Electrical Safety Management Systems (ESMS) and proficiency in Permit-to-Work processes and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Leadership & Management:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide a team of electrical professionals.
- Proficiency in incident recording systems and related documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, for managing safety records and preparing reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or the ability to achieve this.
- Low Voltage Authorised Person Training with LV Switching certification.
- SMSTS Certification (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- CSCS Card – AQP (Academically Qualified Person) or PQP (Professionally Qualified Person) minimum.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel to various project locations as needed.
