As Director of Network Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to lead a diverse global team responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and support of the Equifax global network. This will involve managing a local team of engineers and working with the Network Services team in the LATAM, AP, US, and EU locations. You will work closely with the teams from Network Operations, NOC and other cross-functional teams who are managing systems and applications, to drive efficiency and improvements in supporting/managing the business. This position is within the Corporate Service Alliance team that operates Equifax global backbone, datacenter, and access networks. The CSA team is centered around hiring and developing diverse talents who are passionate about building and operating best-in-the-breed infrastructure through technology and innovation.
Travel: This position requires the incumbent to travel up to 15% of the time.
Work Hours: Incumbents must make themselves available during core business hours and any on-call escalation after business hours.
To adhere to our corporate location policies, this resource will be required to be local to the surrounding Atlanta areas (or willing to relocate for this position) and adhere to our Return To Office (RTO) / weekly onsite requirements. This is an Alpharetta based position.
What You’ll Do
- Drive bottoms-up improvements for Network Architecture & Engineering design, Implementation, documentation and 3rd level support
- Lead the development of innovative network engineering processes and tools from concept to delivery with a focus on new technologies, particularly Cloud (GCP, & AWS), SDN and automation
- Provide leadership to manage demands from projects and technology upgrades including recommendations for vendor tools/solutions and global alignment of networks.
- Mentor, manage and motivate a high-performing team of senior professionals and set clear priorities to achieve department goals and KPIs.
- Support adoption of new technologies and tools, recommend capability improvements to network engineering, and assist in lab/ QA deployments for technology trials.
- Ensure that information security and risk management are embedded within the culture requiring continuous improvement to a complex set of functions to coordinate security and compliance risks related to information systems and assets.
- Drive coordination, consensus and execution to mitigate cyber risk issues and emerging threats
- Direct the continuous and secure design and maintenance of the corporate , data center, and cloud networking infrastructure, including network security and Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plans.
- Assist in the development of a strategic roadmap to ensure network engineering and operations goals are met.
- Ensure service level targets are met, and address all service-level complaints.
- Participate in disaster recovery/business continuity activities, as needed.
What Experience You Need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional networking experience across Engineering and Operations
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in recommending, implementing, maintaining, state of the art network hardware and software systems
- Minimum of 5 years experience supporting large network and infrastructure environments and organizations (5000 employee minimum)
- Minimal of 3 years experience leading Cloud deployments and transformation (AWS and / or GCP highly preferred)
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience successfully managing vendor relationships and contract negotiation
- Must be open to minimal travel (International & Domestic) – likely around 10% throughout the year
What Could Set You Apart
- Cloud Certification Strongly Preferred
- Current or held advanced network technical certification (e.g., CCIE/CCNP, JNCIE/JNCIS, or relevant industry certification etc.
- Experience or background with automation using Terraform, Ansible and/or Python would be desired.Proven track record of driving change and transformation in network engineering processes, tools and technologies through metrics driven, KPI based methodologies, and an evidence based operational improvement and decision making approach to best meet business objectives and priorities.
- Experience working with highly effective engineering teams through major technology transitions.
- Prior experience in a dedicated role around defining network engineering strategic planning.
- Prior experience in multi-vendor networking technologies.
- Hands-on experience in deploying large scale network technologies.
- Great communicator and able to drive consensus across diverse/global technology teams.
- Demonstrated experience of metrics driven management with accountability.
