We have over 700 staff members working in Ireland with offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick.Senior Structural EngineerWe currently have a requirement for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in one of our offices in Ireland (Dublin, Cork, Galway or Limerick), designing and delivering projects in Ireland and across Europe.You will be responsible for delivery of the structural aspects of projects. The role will harness your core structural engineering skills to provide technical guidance on multi-disciplinary projects as well as leading, mentoring and developing junior colleagues. It will also provide opportunity to use and develop management skills and experience and be at the leading edge of sustainable solutions in the sector.We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and looking forward to advancing their career. This role offers the successful candidate a long term opportunity for career development.Your responsibilities

  • Leading and managing the structural engineering design team of engineers, technicians and other professionals to deliver engineering designs for projects or major parts of large projects, from concept to detailed design and construction.
  • Co-ordinating through the design process and integrating with associated design requirements from the various design partners.
  • Planning and checking the project work of engineers, graduates, and technicians, with responsibility for completion of design task to agreed deadlines and budget.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
  • Preparation and checking of structural calculations, reports and specifications, supporting the delivery of designs through the construction process.
  • Attending client and external design team meetings providing expert advice in developing strategies and solutions.
  • Ensuring compliance with Arup standards as set out in the company’s quality procedures.

Your Education/Profile

  • Degree qualified in Structural Engineering or similar, MEng or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have Chartered professional status or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years post graduate experience that has developed strong technical skills in the design and delivery of complex structural engineering projects.
  • Proven team player with experience of leading in the design of all aspects of building structures from conceptual layout to detailed design and construction.
  • Experience of design interfaces, e.g. Architectural, MEP, Geotechnical, Civil, etc.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills with a strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations, and writing.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Competent in design software packages.
  • The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, inquisitive, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
