We’re inviting applications for Substantive Consultant post specialising in General Haematology (we encourage applicants to develop an area of their own interest).This post attracts a ‘Golden Hello’ payment for new applicants taking a substantive post. Details are below:
- £12,000 golden hello payment for new recruits to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
- Successful candidates will also be eligible for a relocation allowance of £12,000 (if required).
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and vibrant department in the expansion and development of clinical and diagnostic Haematology services within the North West London sector.Based primarily at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH), Haematology services are delivered at all three Trust sites. Successful candidates will be part of a team of 16 Consultant Haematologist colleagues in delivering clinical, laboratory, diagnostic, administrative, research and teaching responsibilities.The department has a wide variety of clinics including thrombosis, general clinics and haemoglobinopathy. If the post holder does wish to consider a mixed malignant / non-malignant post, a malignant clinics could also be considered within the job plan.The Department is supported by 7 Specialist Trainees, 3 Senior Clinical Fellows, 3 SHO, 1 FYI and 10 Clinical Nurse Specialists, 3 Physician’s Associates and is split into 2 clinical teams, Haemato-Oncology and General Haematology.Main duties of the jobThe post is a new position, full-time 10 PA, in the Haematology Department of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. Job responsibilitiesThere are weekly myeloid, lymphoma, CLL and myeloma clinics within the department in addition to new referrals, general haematology, haemoglobinopathy and thrombosis clinics. The combination of clinics for the individual post-holder will be subject to their experience and interests and the needs of the department. Full-time consultants at this trust will generally undertake 3 clinics per week.There are weekly regional and local MDTs which will be part of job planned activity. The regional MDT consists of consultants from Hammersmith Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, West Middlesex Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Acute inpatient admissions are managed at NPH. For malignant haematology, Northwick Park has a stand-alone MDT and a weekly meeting with Hammersmith Hospital to discuss complex cases and transplant referrals. Haemoglobinopathy service is based at CMH, but the remaining clinics are at Northwick Park Hospital.Within the department, there is good opportunity to significantly contribute to service development, particularly in the Thrombosis, Laboratory, ITP and Haemoglobinopathy services again dependent on experience and interest.On-call attending occurs on a 1 in 6 basis.Person Specification

Essential
- MRCP FRCPath or equivalent Full and Specialist registration with a licence to practice, with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Applicants that are UK trained they must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
