Job DescriptionCarnival UK is in search of a Lead Platform Engineer who is crucial in supporting our technological direction and nurturing a high-performing team.The Lead Platform Engineer will take responsibility for deploying, configuring, and operating IT Infrastructure platforms hosted on our ship and shore locations. Leading the planning, implementation and optimisation of the technologies and processes used to maintain Infrastructure platforms, encompassing, hypervisors, data storage, installing, testing, or decommissioning and removing, systems or system components.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigate and manage the adoption of tools, techniques, and processes (including automation) for the management of systems and services.
  • Lead, guide and mentor a team of engineers, and acting as an escalation point for colleagues across the Technology department
  • Ensure that operational procedures and documentation are fit for purpose and kept up to date. Ensuring that operational issues are identified, recorded, monitored, and resolved. Provides appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users, and managers.
  • Develops standards and guidelines for implementing data protection and disaster recovery functionality for all business applications and business data.

Positioned within our internal structure from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President), this role is classified as a CUK08, offered as a full-time or part-time position, on a permanent basis. We offer hybrid work including up to two days from home.Requirements: Your Expertise and LeadershipTo thrive as a Platform Engineer Lead, we’re looking for:

  • Experience with automation platforms, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet or Chef.
  • Experience of Cloud technologies – AWS/Azure/GCP.
  • Worked extensively with Kubernetes
  • Experienced within Agile ways of working, Kanban and Scrum.
  • Experience of Vmware vSphere, Nutanix or Hyper V virtualisation platforms.
  • Experience in Microsoft or Linux operating systems
