As part of the Telecommunications team, the Telecom Technician is to be accountable to pre-commission, commission, modify, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the NB Power System Telecommunications Network that is used in the generation, transmission and control of electrical power within the province and to interconnecting utilities.
Key functions include:
- Commission, maintain, test and calibrate system Telecommunications equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date system Telecommunications engineering drawings and provide input and information necessary to ensure records and manuals are kept up to date.
- Assess the impact of field work on the power system and coordinate with other work groups to facilitate energizing protection equipment.
The ideal teammate will have:
- Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology with a Major in Telecommunications
- One year of hands-on experience working with tools
- Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networks
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Basic computer navigation skills
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
