This high-impact role blends scientific leadership with strategic business development, putting you at the heart of both innovation and growth. You will lead a talented team of researchers and drive key partnerships with biotech and research institutions, turning cutting-edge science into transformative applications.Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Scientific Leadership: Drive the development of Uncommon’s nucleic acid delivery platform with a focus on expanding its applications. Guide scientific direction and ensure our technologies achieve maximum impact and profit, ensuring we win.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performance team of molecular biologists and chemists. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Partnership Development: Identify and secure strategic alliances with biotech firms, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions. Manage relationships from initiation to negotiation and execution, aiming to commercialize and expand Uncommon’s platform.
- Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis and stay abreast of industry trends in nucleic acid delivery and cellular programming. Leverage insights to shape strategy and identify opportunities for winning.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Our edge lies in our drive to push cellular capabilities across disciplines. While your primary focus will be on therapeutical delivery technologies, you’ll also collaborate closely with colleagues advancing our work in cultivated meat.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience in industry)
- Extensive industry experience in molecular biology with a focus on nucleic acid-based platforms
- Proven experience leading scientific and business teams and driving nucleic acid technology initiatives, with a strong track record of translating science into real-world applications.
- Business development or partnership experience within biotech, with a focus on commercialization of scientific innovations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply scientific principles to address technical challenges and optimise processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, adapting to changing priorities and effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in RNA design and drug delivery systems.
- Experience navigating regulatory frameworks and industry standards (FDA, EMA).
- Knowledge of licensing and partnership agreements in biotech.
