Job Purpose: To manage and assist with all aspects of LV, controls of electrical project deliverables. Not limited to aspects of the design and commissioning of fire and lighting systems, ensuring their seamless integration with BMS or SCADA.Role and Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a project engineering team responsible for managing the installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the electrical generation systems, LV, testing, and commissioning of fire detection, alarm, suppression systems, and lighting systems.
  • Provide input into the design of fire and lighting systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and integration with other building services.
  • Review and appraise fire and lighting system designs, offering feedback and recommendations to enhance compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Liaise with engineering, service departments, project management and other project engineers on electrical pre-commissioning and installation issues.
  • Review and appraise electrical systems against current drawings offering feedback on engineering design deliverables & project specifications.
  • Add Input towards the planning of commissioning activities for all aspects of the projects electrical, interfacing and communication requirements.
  • Issue, control and manage LV ELV and Building Services Commissioning Procedures, permits and general documentation for limitations of access pertinent to the project.
  • Undertake panel and system modifications in line with current designs and be able to fault find within a variety of LV and HV systems.

Essential:

  • A background in electrical engineering
  • ECS/CSCS card holder
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards and codes, such as BS 5839, BS 5266, and building regulations Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home as required.
  • Familiarity with fire safety systems (detection, alarms, suppression) and lighting systems, including emergency, task, and architectural lighting

Desirable:

  • 2391 inspection and testing
  • Certification in fire systems design and commissioning
  • Experience in designing and commissioning intelligent building systems, integrating fire and lighting systems with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and controls

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good understanding of both electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
  • Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Proven ability to interpret and review technical designs, schematics, and specifications for fire and lighting systems Basic coaching skills
  • Good relationship building and communication skills-at all levels and across functions, internally and externally.
  • Ability to motivate, persuade and influence others.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet project requirements and deadlines Strong planning skills.
  • Commercial awareness – acts to minimise costs to Clarke Energy and customers.
