Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Network Operations Engineer to become part of our growing IT Operations Team. This role will primarily focus on 2nd line network operational support and provide operational day-to-day support for all Element’s Global Network Services, including wide area, local area, and wireless networks. The Element operations team utilizes a “follow the sun” support model, which means providing support to team members outside your region is a key part of this role. Additionally, the role will be working closely with the front-line TOC (Technology Operations Centre) to support initial troubleshooting, monitoring, and triaging of network related incidents and requests. 

You will be working collaboratively with the rest of the DTG infrastructure run, design, and build teams, as well as trusted partners and vendors to deliver services to the Element business units including operational support for integration of new acquisitions. 

Experience: 

Minimum of 3 years of experience with operations and maintenance of network infrastructure within multi-platform and multi-system global environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operational support and maintenance of Element’s global network 
  • Monitoring core systems for effectiveness and pro-active maintenance. 
  • Efficient and effective management of 2nd line incidents resulting in successful and timely resolution meeting Element business SLAs 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal customers and external partners 
  • Operational support for acquisitions and integrations 

Skills / Qualifications

  • Broad technical knowledge and experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco platforms including, but not limited to, Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco ISR routers, and NX-OS switching platforms 
  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting networking protocols (IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, FHRP, WLAN solutions, QoS, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, STP technologies and Ethernet switching solutions) across multiple platforms deployed in the Element network estate 
  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting firewalls e.g. SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco FTD 
  • Experience in Network monitoring and management tools, such as SolarWinds or Zabbix 
  • Display technical credibility, independent judgment, and decision-making experience on networking matters 
  • Ability to overcome challenges in remote working such as overseas locations, cultural differences, and split time-zones to ensure positive interactions 
  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills 
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills when determining the impact of network issues quickly, combined with sound decision-making skills under pressure 
  • Demonstrate planning, documentation, and organizational skills 
  • Experience in delivery using IT infrastructure management best practices & standards, ITIL / ITSM principles and practices, and change management in large environments. 
  • Demonstrate understanding of IT security issues in global network environments 

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Mathematics, a plus but not required
