VP / Director, Infrastructure SectorYour work environmentWe are looking for our next colleague to join our Brussels based Infrastructure Sector team within Wholesale Banking.Our team is part of ING’s global Infrastructure franchise with offices in Brussels, London, Madrid, New York and Sydney. We cover primarily infrastructure funds, as well as infrastructure companies (e.g. airports, regulated utilities, ferries) and contractors active in infrastructure projects.Our Brussels team acts as a centre of excellence, thus our geographical scope is the wider EMEA region, hence you will work primarily on international transactions.We aim to provide creative multi-product solutions through a broad range of services (a.o. from specialised lending, debt capital markets, advisory, to sustainability linked products), and our team is expert in delivering acquisition financing, traditional project finance, whole business securitisation and fund financing structures.Our ambition is to leverage on ING’s key three pillars:Our global reach, with local experts We are sector experts We are sustainability pioneersKey words for the work are creativity, complexity and international focus which makes this environment an area particularly suited for candidates with strong analytical skills, tenacity, eye for detail and high commercial drive.Your key responsibilitiesAs a senior banker, you will be the primary contact point towards our clients, and will lead the origination, structuring, negotiation, execution and monitoring of transactions. Depending on experience, job level and background, the role includes a.o.:
- Coverage:
- Formulating client strategies and developing and maintaining close relationships with clients as the primary contact;
- Identifying, originating, and structuring solutions to clients across the WB product suite in close co-operation with product specialists and the ING network;
- Leading (virtual) client teams with various deal team members from ING;
- Lending:
- For new transactions: acting as deal captain by overseeing and providing guidance in preparing financial models and sensitivities to underpin proposed structures, term sheets. Primary responsible for the commercial and credit committee presentations, discussion with Risk Management and (negotiation of) transaction documentation agreement until transaction close;
- For existing transactions: acting as deal captain on multiple existing lending transactions, and overseeing the portfolio monitoring together with the Portfolio Management team.
- Achieving sector income and return targets within ING’s risk appetite while being compliant with all relevant financial and non-financial guidelines;
- Continuously building knowledge on the sector and its drivers, competitors, products, and macroeconomic trends/ issues, and contributing to ING’s strategic initiatives;
We look forA colleague with 6+yrs (for VP) or 8+yrs (for Director) working experience in a client facing role and a project and/or acquisition finance background. You have a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead.As an VP/Director within the Infrastructure sector team, you will also need:
- Strong academic record, with relevant master’s degree in business economics, financial engineering or law
- Deep understanding of the Infrastructure sector, prior working experience with in acquisition financing / project financing
- A true team player with good communication skills
- Entrepreneurial and commercial drive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and in Dutch or French
- Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills
- Strong eye for detail in all deliverables
- Eager to share knowledge with colleagues
- Ability to work independently on various transactions/projects at the same time, often under pressure, and to prioritize resources accordingly
