Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Engineer with expertise in Cloud security, Container security, 5G telecommunications, and automation programming to join our team. This role ensures our software, systems, and infrastructure meet the highest security standards, driving innovation while improving the organization’s security posture.
The Cybersecurity Engineer will lead technical security assessments, conduct code reviews, and perform vulnerability testing. This role involves designing and implementing scalable security solutions for diverse platforms, including 5G Radio Access Network (3GPP RAN, OSS), cloud environments, and containerized applications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, bringing a passion for secure automation, 5G technologies, and advanced problem-solving skills.

- 5G Telecommunications Security: Develop and implement security strategies for 3GPP 5G Radio Access Network, OSS, and associated network elements. Oversee security measures for signaling protocols, data sessions, and service exposure interfaces in the 5G RAN network. Ensure robust security configurations for telco cloud platforms, including NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and SDN (Software-Defined Networking).
- Cloud & Container Security: Lead the design, implementation, and testing of advanced security measures for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes). Oversee the security configuration and compliance of cloud-native services and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
- Automation & Programming: Develop and maintain automation scripts/tools for security processes using Python, Terraform (HashiCorp), YAML, or similar technologies. Create scalable solutions to improve deployment efficiency and streamline security operations.
- Risk Assessment & Compliance: Conduct security risk assessments, including threat modeling (e.g., STRIDE, PASTA, ATTACK TREE, MITRE ATT&CK). Ensure compliance with federal regulations and industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOX, CPNI).
- Vulnerability Management: Perform vulnerability assessments and lead remediation efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Implement solutions to mitigate advanced persistent threats (APTs) and secure privileged accounts using CyberArk and HashiCorp Vault.
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert-level guidance on security best practices across the organization, particularly in 5G network security. Mentor junior team members in security technologies, enterprise design, and effective cross-team collaboration.
- Leads security, compliance, and risk assessments on projects throughout project lifecycle.
- Improves process efficiency by creating and implementing creative and sustainable changes to existing deployment methodologies.
- Leads the identification of security needs & recommends plans/resolutions.
- Implements, tests & monitors info security improvements.
- Maintains visibility inside & outside of information security at the People management level.
- Interfaces with groups such as application support, engineering ops, finance, privacy, risk management, etc.
- Leads information security policy lifecycle throughout, including intake, creation, review, approval, implementation, publishing, communication & maintenance.
- Executes security projects driven by groups both internal and external to info security.
- Mentors, peers and junior team members in security technologies, enterprise solution design and facilitation and effective customer interaction
- Experience with implementation of various threat modeling approaches pertaining to one or more of the following STRIDE, PASTA, TRIKE, ATTACK TREE, DREAD, KILL CHAIN, CAPEC, Mobile Application threat model, Cyber Threat Tree, and data flow diagram.
- Subject matter expert in multiple facets of network & information security, including Firewall policy design, SSL Certificate management, vulnerability analysis & mitigation, and other topics as assigned.
- Advanced understanding of IP/Security solutions & technologies applicable to the Wireless Network Architecture.
- Experience with the analysis of underlying technologies that form the solution necessary for the application of threat identification, analysis, and thread model design.
- The threat model depicts trust boundary, threat agent(s), threat vector(s), and safeguard(s) necessary to protect person, asset, data, and T-Mobile brand.
- Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Computer Science, or Information Technology, Relevant experience might be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience:
- 4-7 years’ Experience in info security technology or related field
- Experience with incident handling for Security breaches.
- Expert in security subject areas
- 2-4 years’ Technical Project Management
- Experience with high level design architecture, security technologies, Networking, web services and SOA. Understanding of encryption, obfuscation, tokenization technologies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in scripting and automation tools (Python, Terraform [HashiCorp], YAML, Shell, Perl).
- In-depth knowledge of 4G/5G telecommunications systems, including 3GPP standards for Radio Access Network and OSS.
- Familiarity with security tools such as Nokia NCLM, CyberArk, HashiCorp Vault, Microsoft Sentinel, and Terraform (HashiCorp).
- Expertise in vulnerability analysis, firewall design, and intrusion detection/prevention.
- Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI
- Familiarity with load balancers (ex – A10, F5), firewalls (ex – CheckPoint), Venafi, MDM (ex – Mobile Iron), Cloud (ex – AWS, Azure), Malware Protection (ex -FireEye), Advanced Persistent Threats (ex – Damballa), Privileged Accounts (ex – CyberArk), SIEM (ex – ArcSight), Log & Event (ex – Splunk), Intrusion IDS/IPS (ex – Symantec) , Cloud Platform (ex – PCF, Docker), Scanning (ex – Qualys), AppSec (ex – Veracode)
- Solid understanding of T-Mobile’s network elements and how they work together (EIT, Engineering & 3rd Party).
- Strong presentation skills to large and small audiences.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of security best practices in large-scale environments
- Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work under tight timelines.
- Always act with tact and integrity, and interface with a variety of individuals in a positive and productive manner.
- Strong verbal and communication skills with diverse cross functional groups & the ability to present effectively to small & large groups.
- Knowledge of information security policies and regulatory controls (per team function)

- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Base Pay Range: $103,400 – $186,400
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
