About the Role:

TELUS AI Insights is seeking an Intermediate Data Scientist with a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join our world-class team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of NLP and Generative AI (GenAI) innovation, leveraging cutting-edge tools to deliver impactful solutions. As part of the TELUS family, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to solving complex challenges, and drive measurable impact in customer interaction analytics.

  • This is a 10 month contract*

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, deploy, and optimize NLP models and solutions to analyze and extract insights from large-scale text datasets
  • Work extensively with Python and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and HuggingFace
  • Leverage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools, particularly Vertex AI, to build and manage scalable ML workflows
  • Explore, fine-tune, and deploy Large Language Models (LLMs) for advanced generative AI use cases
  • Analyze and enhance data pipelines for customer interaction data, including call center analytics, to deliver actionable insights
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and design data-driven solutions
  • Present findings and actionable recommendations through clear and concise communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications

What You Bring:

Must-Have Skills and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Programming Expertise: Proficiency in Python
  • NLP Experience: Hands-on experience developing NLP models, including preprocessing, text classification, sentiment analysis, and vectorization/embedding techniques
  • Generative AI Experience: Familiarity with LLM fine-tuning and prompt engineering
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders effectively
  • Project Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Highly Desirable:

  • Cloud Expertise: Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially Vertex AI for Machine Learning workflows
  • Call Center Analytics: Knowledge of call center operations, including customer interaction trends and challenges
  • Applied NLP: Experience in deploying NLP models to production environments for real-world use cases

Salary Range: $86,000-$130,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
