Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in accounting principles to contribute to key accounting processes, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and audit support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monthly accounting and closing processes by generating journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and conducting analytical reviews of specific general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and proper valuation.

  • Support various audit activities by assigning requests to staff, preparing and reviewing supporting documentation, tracking audit deliverables, and assisting with management reviews and status updates.

  • Conduct research into accounting guidance, laboratory policies, and other regulations to model, document, and implement new accounting practices and activities.

  • Interpret policies, federal regulations, and other guidelines to assess the allowability and allocability of costs associated with contracts, providing recommendations to management.

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to support the generation of financial reports and statements for internal management and external customers.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Accounting team, including enhancing internal documentation, standardizing processes, automating tasks, and improving internal controls.

  • Provide support for the implementation and upgrades of financial systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least five years of experience in accounting or related discipline.

  • Strong experience with GAAP accounting practices.

  • Proficiency in using ERP software solutions for accounting functions.

  • Solid understanding of financial and government processes with exceptional assessment skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Experience with SAP is required.

  • Familiarity with computer-based financial management tools is preferred.

  • Experience with Department of Defense contracts or related regulations (OMB, FAR, and DFARs) is a plus.

  • Experience with DCAA and external audits is preferred.

  • Previous experience developing and implementing process improvements is a plus.

  • Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required, however an active Secret clearance is highly preferred.
