Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international non-governmental organization that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1200 NGOs operating in 18 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands- the international city of peace and justice.
INSO Sudan
INSO activated its first remote platform to respond to the conflict that erupted in Sudan in April 2023 at the request of the NGO Forum. INSO is now registered in Sudan with an office in Port Sudan and are growing. We currently serve nearly 100 NGOs in this increasingly complex operating environment.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Country Director, you will be responsible for protecting the financial health and integrity of the project. You will enforce appropriate accounting and financial procedures and policies, provide timely and accurate financial information and orient your team in financial management and compliance among other duties. This position is based in Port Sudan.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial record keeping; control and reconcile the documentation, upload the financial information into financial system.
- Provide reconciliation of payroll and tax, revenue, A/R and A/P accounts and cash.
- Develop, in coordination with others, the annual budget of the project.
- Prepare forecasts and monitor expenses, identify funding gaps.
- Support Country Director in grants management function, including providing information required for proposals and grant modifications.
- Ensure financial practices comply with INSO procedures and donor regulations.
- Oversee statutory reporting to local authorities.
- Lead the year-end process, provide information to consolidate INSO global financial statements.
- Meet external reporting deadlines- prepare budgets and reports with exactness and compliance; liaise with donors and HQ as necessary.
- Lead the finance department- recruit, orient and train finance staff.
- Serve as a member of the Country Management Team.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a similar roles at NGOs.
- Degree in finance, accounting or other relevant degree.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software, especially SUNSYSTEM.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to process large amounts of data.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
- Donor compliance knowledge (BHA, ECHO).
- Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Time management skills.
- Experience leading a team.
Nice to have
- Fluency in Arabic
- Experience in the region

Terms & Conditions
12-month renewable contract, €5500 per month salary, 4 calendar days annual leave per month, and 7 calendar days of R&R every 2 months with a R&R allowance each cycle, housing, global medical coverage (excluding USA) and AD&D insurance.
