JOB DESCRIPTION:DescriptionThe Global Supply Chain for IDEM, Infectious Diseases Emerging Market, Business Unit consists of Manufacturing sites in China, Korea, Japan and Jena, Germany, centralised services in Philippines, Hong Kong and Galway and the corporate headquarters in Chicago, US. The Supply Chain is responsible for managing the demand and supply of Lateral Flow Diagnostic Tests for Covid 19, HIV, Malaria, Hepatitis C, Flu and a range of Tropical diseases. We support a rapidly expanding business unit within Abbott and collaborate closely on sales execution, product supply and human resources with the other business Units within the Abbot Diagnostics DivisionThe IDEM supply chain is rapidly expanding as we provide product & service responses to the diseases mentioned and as we develop our go to Market infrastructure and processes across our target geographies in Africa, APAC, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Lat Am. To ensure we can rapidly expand our Supply Chain capability starting within our supply suppliers and manufacturing facilities we are recruiting Leaders that will help us build the right processes, systems and organisational capability.The Manager, Global Inventory and Material Operations role will be instrumental in shaping the Global supply chain strategies for the IDEM business. The primary function of this role is to provide vision, strategy, leadership and direction for Supply Chain Inventory, analytics, and material operations to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality, customer satisfaction, delivery service and manufacturing capability to accomplish site, division and corporate strategies at competitive cost.Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop, manage, and lead Global Supply Chain Analytics team and strategy in the integration, access and sharing of strategic information (product availability, inventory, distressed inventory, supplier etc.) by advanced data management techniques
  • Define and implement the IDEM Global inventory management strategy, in alignment with the overall Supply Chain strategy; Works cross functionally to drive inventory optimization and management of on-hand raw materials and components
  • IDEM Business process owner for raw material planning and execution, including standardization and improvement of systems, processes, and reporting. Assess the impact of future systems technology solutions in the supply chain and roll out strategies.
  • Define division KPIs for Inventory, material operations and analytics, and maintain consistency of measurements across all locations. Ensures alignment of metrics across all sites, thus creating an integrated set of business performance measures. Ensures at a minimum monthly review and reporting of metrics and associated root cause analysis action plans to drive improvements.
  • Material operations – Proactively identifies potential business issues and/or supply constraints, develops risk mitigations plans and acts as point of escalation for Material supply issues within business unit
  • Has the ability to break down complex projects or issues and present them in a digestible format
  • Accountable for the execution of relevant businesses processes that have significant impact on the overall success of the supply chain and the Business unit.
  • Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.
  • Ensures accurate data reporting and asks appropriate questions to improve reporting processes and drive meaningful discussion
  • Acts as a mentor to less-experienced staff and may provide work direction or supervise other technical employees.
  • Exercise’s judgment independently and establishes priorities of individual assignments
  • Share best practices across the supply chain and act as a conduit to accelerate improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/science discipline, supply chain, math, business, finance operations management, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters’ degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in operations or supply chain, preferably in the medical device business or other highly regulated industry.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Clear demonstrated experience in working in a diverse cultural environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of operations, procurement, supply chain and other project-related activities, including their interfaces and interdependencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience processing data and visualization of data.
  • People leadership experience – demonstrated ability to coach and mentor
  • Drives and promotes a culture of trust and engagement and embraces a culture of High Performing Teams.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals and meet schedules.
  • Proven solid work ethic and ability to work well with others as well as independently.
