Accountant in Brookfield, Wisconsin

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Accountant in the retail food store industry. The role is based in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and requires on-site presence. The Accountant will be responsible for facilitating the closing of books and overseeing accounting processes in QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

• Review and reconcile all accounts, including bank statements, credit card statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory

• Ensure all financial transactions for the year are accurately recorded and classified

• Prepare and post adjusting journal entries as required, and conduct a thorough review of the general ledger to identify and correct any discrepancies or errors

• Generate and analyze year-end financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, and prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external auditors or tax preparers

• Organize and maintain the restaurant’s accounting entries in QuickBooks, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurately reflects the restaurant’s financial position

• Set up and maintain accurate records for new fiscal year transactions

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies, and maintain organized and accessible financial records for audit purposes

• Assist with the preparation of any required tax filings and reports

• Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and controls, and provide recommendations for streamlining accounting procedures and enhancing financial reporting accuracy.

Skills required:

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Knowledge of Auditing and General Ledger

• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role within the retail or food industry

• Proficiency in using accounting software systems is essential

• Demonstrated experience in performing all accounting functions

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

• Proven experience in auditing, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy

• Familiarity with General Ledger tasks and month-end/year-end processes

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel is required

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
