Accountant in Chicago, Illinois

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accountant in CHICAGO, Illinois, United States. You will be a part of a team that is responsible for a broad range of accounting tasks within a specific business unit or functional area. Your duties will include recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with control requirements, and producing timely and accurate financial statements. You will also participate in planning and analysis functions and work closely with other departments and business units on accounting activities.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record financial transactions and ensure timely reporting

• Participate in the monthly financial statement close process for the designated business unit or functional area

• Liaise with operating unit finance personnel on accounting issues and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements

• Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations

• Assist in the accounting, analysis, and budgeting of various accounts in coordination with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP& A)

• Prepare monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current actual results to prior period actual results

• Interact with internal and external auditors, Controller’s Group, and Business Units as required to accomplish goals

• Identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and support regulatory compliance and business planning by performing analyses

• Assist in special projects and the implementation of changes in Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)/Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as needed

• Work closely with other departments and business units regarding accounting activities. Requirements

• Proficiency in financial reporting and planning

• Experience in managing planning processes

• Ability to review financial data and provide insights

• Experience in supervising and coordinating financial teams

• In-depth knowledge of finance principles and practices

• Familiarity with external audit processes

• Expertise in budgeting and financial forecasting

• Ability to perform ad hoc financial analyses

• Experience with closing processes in accounting

• Proven track record in implementing accounting systems and processes

• Proficiency in account reconciliation

• Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements

• Demonstrated ability to resolve financial issues

• Experience in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards

• Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures

• Proficiency in variance and cost analysis

• Understanding of GAAP accounting principles

• Experience in leading special financial projects

• Experience in monthly financial reporting

• Coordination skills to work effectively with various business units

• Ability to contribute to business plan development

• Experience in working closely with various business units.
