POSITION: Accountant.

DUTIES: The person we are looking for will have strong knowledge of basic
accounting principles (GAAP), accounting functions and procedures
including, but not limited to, payroll, accounts payable, journal
entries, bank reconciliations, GL account reconciliations including
liability account reconciliations and accounts payable. This position will
serve as the primary backup and support to the current Accountant and will be
instrumental with month-end close, year-end close, and will assist and
co-manage the annual audit alongside the current Accountant and the Finance
Department leadership. The Accountant is charged with improving and
streamlining processes as the need arises under the direction and guidance
from the Deputy Finance Director and/or the Finance Director. The person
selected for this position should be an “out of the box” thinker and
should be an excellent problem solver. The accountant is responsible for a
variety of tasks including supporting payroll, accounts payable, month-end
close, year-end close, managing accounting and finance workpapers,
account reconciliations, among other duties. The department encourages
creativity in developing the role.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Two years of
proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping with heavy month-end processes
and reconciliation responsibilities. Proven accounting experience may
substitute for the education requirement on a year-by-year basis in addition
to the minimum experience requirement. To meet the educational substitution,
someone would need to have 6 years of accounting experience without a degree.

PREFERRED: Government accounting experience, preferably for Colorado
County, or local governments, revenue or grant accounting experience is a
huge bonus. Prefer an advanced degree in accounting such as a master’s
degree in accounting, but not required (see minimum requirements above).
Highly desired and preferred, but not required, accounting certified
including CGFM, CPFO, or a CPA. Experience with Tyler Technologies ERP
Pro 10 (Incode) or similar ERP system. Advanced Excel experience is a
bonus. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

WAGE: The salary is $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 annually dependent on
experience and qualifications. This is a Full-time, Exempt position.

SHIFTS: This is a full-time, Exempt position working 40 hours per week
working primarily Monday through Friday from 8-5 however, this position is
considered to be a hybrid position within Colorado depending on the need and
other eligibility requirements, where some initial training may require all
onsite days upon hire.
