Accountant in Modesto, California

Description We are in search of an Accountant to join our non-profit organization located in Modesto, California, United States. This role will entail a variety of detailed technical accounting duties, including the processing of payroll and accounts payable expenditures, maintaining a variety of accounting and financial records, and preparing various accounting documents and financial reports.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed technical accounting duties

• Process payroll and accounts payable expenditures

• Maintain accounting and financial records, spreadsheets, and logs

• Reconcile transactions and data, ensuring accuracy of accounting, financial, payroll, retirement, and benefits records

• Prepare accounting documents such as purchase orders, invoices, and wire transfers

• Generate various financial reports and statements

• Assist in the development, monitoring, and amendment of the Overall Work Program Budget

• Develop and maintain specialized spreadsheets and systems for recording and tracking cost element information for each program and project

• Prepare year-end entries and assist in audit preparations and year-end adjustments

• Establish and maintain records and files including credit card, fixed assets, inventory records, and project files

• Coordinate meetings and prepare supporting documentation for assigned committees

• Utilize skills in Bank Reconciliations, Microsoft Excel, and Administrative tasks.

This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the accounting field, preferably within the non-profit sector

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must

• Must possess strong administrative skills, including organization and time management

• Experience in bank reconciliations is required

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and regulations would be advantageous

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work is necessary

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
