Description We are offering a contract-to-permanent position for an Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry, based in Overland Park, Kansas. The selected candidate will be tasked with handling accounting activities to support the project managers and ensuring all financial documentation is in order.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Project Managers by providing project accounting assistance.
• Handle the financial documentation and monitoring of projects.
• Ensure accurate and timely billing by coordinating with the project manager.
• Foster positive relationships by addressing customer requirements related to project financials and invoicing.
• Process write-offs for project-related unbilled revenue or uncollectable accounts receivable.
• Maintain constant communication with Project Managers regarding all accounting aspects of projects.
• Participate in monthly financial reviews with the project team.
• Close projects in the system upon completion of work.
• Support accounting period end activities and ensure timely financial close.
• Generate ad hoc project accounting reports as needed.
• Maintain project financial information such as budgets, rates, contracts, and invoicing requirements in the system.
• Handle various accounting data administration and management tasks as required. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Functions is required, including understanding of standard accounting principles and financial statements.
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) is necessary, including invoice processing, payment handling, and maintaining vendor relationships.
• Ability to manage Accounts Receivable (AR), including billing, collection, and revenue recognition.
• Previous experience in the Real Estate & Property industry is preferable.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and prepare reports.
• Excellent organizational skills for maintaining accurate and detailed financial records.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication skills to interact with various departments and external vendors.
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
• Accounting certification, such as CPA, is a plus.
• Individual with high level of accuracy in work.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
• Willingness to comply with all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Consistent availability during standard business hours with occasional overtime as needed.
