Description

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking a senior accountant on an interim basis with one our governmental clients. This role requires a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, applicable federal and state laws, and industry standards. The Senior Accountant also participates in special projects and provides support to the Financial Services Division’s broader functions and programs.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed accounting activities, including the analysis and reconciliation of general and subsidiary ledgers, as well as bank accounts.

• Conduct advanced research on accounting issues and implement solutions in alignment with GAAP, GASB, and other relevant standards.

• Assist in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and support the year-end audit process.

• Provide accounting expertise and guidance to various departments, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.

• Support financial services operations, including budgeting, reporting, and other accounting functions.

• Participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting.

• Stay updated on changes to accounting standards and regulations, ensuring the practices remain compliant and effective.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (master’s degree or CPA preferred).

• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, GASB pronouncements, and federal/state accounting regulations.

• Proven experience in governmental accounting or public sector finance.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex reconciliations and financial analyses.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to provide support across departments.

• Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
