Accountant in Setauket, New York

Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This position will be responsible for handling general accounting functions, including preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

• Perform general ledger reconciliations and account analysis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including adjustments for depreciation, accruals, and prepaid expenses.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

• Conduct variance analysis and assist in budget preparation and forecasting.

• Collaborate with the team on month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Assist with audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Maintain organized financial records and support process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting setting.

• Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.
