Agri-Flow Equipment & Supply – Hydraulics Technician

Agri-Flow Equipment and Supply is seeking an experienced Hydraulics Technician to join the team in Taber, AB.The Hydraulics Technician is responsible for assisting customers and internal stakeholders in identifying and sourcing the right equipment & parts for their hydraulics problems, maintaining high level of customer experience, and ensuring the availability of essential parts. The Hydraulics Technician’s knowledge and expertise related to mechanical & agricultural equipment & parts will contribute to the success of the organization and the satisfaction of our customers.

Working Conditions: 

This is a full-time permanent position. The hours of work will fluctuate, typically 7:30am to 4:30pm M-F and on-call requirements during the in-season and 8:00am to 5:00pm M-F during the out-season. The starting wage of this position is $32/hour, but may be open for negotiation depending on experience levels. A benefits package is available following a successful 90-day probation period, RRSP matching is offered after 1 year of continuous employment. This position primarily works in an indoor workshop and parts storage environment within the shop. Occasional outdoor work may be required for tasks such as overseeing parts inventory in outdoor storage areas, assisting customers in the yard, or performing PDI’s. The successful candidate must adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Assist customers and internal stakeholders, both in-person and over the phone, in identifying and selecting the appropriate parts for their hydraulics needs. This will include, but is not limited to advising on hydraulics systems, fabricating hydraulic hoses, and re-building hydraulic cylinders.
  • Provide product knowledge and recommendations to customers.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Participate in the prescribed on-call schedules.

Inventory Management:

  • Receive and inspect incoming parts shipments for accuracy and quality.
  • Organize and maintain parts inventory on shelves and in storage areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts inventory, including stock levels, part numbers, and pricing information.
  • Monitor inventory levels at the direction of the Parts Manager.
  • Conduct regular physical counts and reconciliations of inventory.

Parts Assembly and Preparation:

  • Assemble parts kits and packages as required.
  • Prepare parts for customer pickup or shipment, ensuring they are properly labeled and packaged.
  • Cut and crimp custom hydraulic hose assemblies.
  • Re-build hydraulic cylinders for customer.

Training:

  • Assist the Parts Manager in creating and administering training related to hydraulic hose assembly within the Parts Department.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all transactions, including sales, returns, and back orders.

Technical Knowledge Required:

  • Specific knowledge of all hydraulic fittings including metric.
  • Thorough understanding of basic hydraulic system design and function, ex. wet kits.
  • Stay updated on the latest equipment models, parts, and accessories offered by the business, particularly as it pertains to their hydraulic systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and colleagues regarding parts compatibility and installation.
  • Assist service technicians daily.

Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional technical or vocational training in agricultural equipment parts (preferred).

Experience & Technical Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Parts or Service Technician or in a related role within an agricultural equipment dealership or Hydraulics oriented business.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural equipment and hydraulic systems/components, including part numbers, compatibility, and installation.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic fittings, hoses, and hose assembly
  • Able to efficiently repair hydraulic components such as cylinders, motors, and pumps.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and inventory management software.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects (up to 45 pounds).
  • Valid driver’s license.
