| Job Description | Knowledge of agriculture, farming, gardening, landscape maintenance and related areas as well as small engine use and repair, seeding, and cultivating plants. Pesticide applicators certification preferred. Assist with the growing, maintenance, and data collection. Duties include, but not limited to, starting seed in a greenhouse, watering greenhouse plants, and maintaining greenhouse free of weeds and pests, install irrigation, transplant seedlings and cuttings, weed, and pest control in research plots. Work with other Horticulture staff as needed. Valid driver’s license. Operate vehicles and small farm equipment, pesticide/herbicide application, basic math. |
| Required Qualifications | High School diploma or GED and agriculture-related mechanical experience. Experience operating and repairing agriculture equipment and machinery. Knowledge of: farm machinery, mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, agriculture. Essential skills – mechanic, tractor operation, use of farm implements, use of power tools, basic math, oral and written communication in English. Abilities to: Operate and repair farm equipment, work independently, maintain inventory of parts and supplies, prioritize tasks, develop and adhere to maintenance and repair schedules, and work for a variety of research programs. |

| Physical Demands | Employee will be required to work outdoors in hot weather, as well as indoors. This position requires the employee to be able to lift 50 lbs and carry it at least 25 yards. |
