Agricultural Technician (Potatoes), Aberdeen

An exciting opportunity has arisen working as part of our friendly and successful potato team based in the Aberdeen Office.

This technical role is concerned with providing laboratory and technical support to the specialist potato team members, delivering services to potato growers and the wider potato industry.

The roll will include the delivery of:-

• Plant pest / pathogen diagnostics
• Bespoke investigations and tests
• Sampling and assessment of field trials
• Supporting diagnostics and laboratory tests for field research trials
• Development of new tests
• Training courses

You will collaborate closely with the delivery managers of other field trial, diagnostic and analytical services at SRUC (Vets / Soils / Plant tissue) to streamline the supporting processes and integrate the potato services into a cohesive customer experience.

The successful candidate requirements are:

Essential

• HE Degree or equivalent
• Good communicator, and confident in speaking to clients and colleagues
• Ability to use IT to support sample booking in, data entry, reporting and scheduling with attention to detail on numerical work.

Desirable

• Specialist experience in a biological science – ideally with previous laboratory or field trial experience.
• Evidence of service delivery, a strong client focussed approach and execution of work to deadlines.
