Job Summary Extension associate for specialty crops pathology, to focus on fruits and vegetables. This position includes translation of plant pathology research to develop educational materials for stakeholders. Candidate must work independently to create basic and advance-level fact sheets, scouting guides, webinars, web pages, and social media posts, as well as facilitate hands-on training events. Experience working directly with farmers and/or other stakeholders is required.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Candidate must have an understanding of plant pathology research in order to develop relevant educational materials. Advanced use of conference platforms, web design software, and video editing software (e.g. Drupal, Adobe Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Suite) are required.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience Masters degree in plant pathology is required. Candidate must be able to work independently and creatively in a fast-paced environment. Organizational skills and time management are a must. Candidate must be agile and be willing to schedule time-sensitive tasks with regular projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills are mandatory, and the candidate should communicate regularly with the research team, as well as with stakeholders. Candidate must be able to work with a diverse team, including interdepartmental collaborators, graduate students, and farm staff. Ability to work without supervision is critical.
