The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online.

Position: State Fair Community College has an opening on the Sedalia campus for a full-time agriculture instructor. Classes will be predominantly on the Sedalia campus but may also include extended campus sites and online at discretion of the Dean.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary instructional responsibilities will be in courses supporting the Agriculture Equipment Service Program, including courses related to hydraulics, electronics/sensors, mechanics, gas and diesel engines, and air conditioning systems. The instructor may also be required to teach other agriculture courses and perform other tasks associated with a full-time faculty position.
The instructor will deliver most course in a lecture/lab setting, but may also be expected to teach courses in a variety of delivery methods including various parts of term and in on-ground, hybrid, Webcon and online formats.
The instructor will be responsible for the instruction and evaluation of student performance while maintaining the standards and integrity of both the agriculture curricula and the institution. The instructor must be committed to retaining students and helping them achieve their academic goals through a sense of a student centeredness. The instructor will uphold the philosophy that students learn from frequent and timely feedback in a positive environment. The ability to effectively communicate course content to todays college students through a variety of multi-media and other instructional strategies is highly desired.
The instructor must be willing to continually improve instruction through professional development. The instructor must show a willingness to assume instructional-related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom such as mentoring adjuncts, serving as lead instructor, serving as a Career and Technical Student Organization sponsor, and serving on committees designed for problem solving and decision making.
Instructor will maintain a safe learning environment, ensuring classrooms and lab spaces are kept clean and equipment in good working order. All learning spaces will meet institutional and industrial expectations for safety at all times.
Full time faculty must teach at least 15 credit hours per semester, maintain a minimum of five student hours per week and be available during the college’s operating hours, Monday through Friday

Required Education/Experience:

Candidate must have completed, at minimum, an associates degree in Agricultural Mechanization or highly related field, Bachelors degree preferred.
At least three years experience in the equipment service industry is required.
Demonstrated expertise in mechanical principles related to agricultural mechanics, hydraulics, electrical, and powertrain.
Knowledge and experience operating equipment and implements
Knowledge and experience in precision agriculture technology
Desired applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for education, an understanding of the community college population, a commitment to the mission and a vision of SFCC, and a concern for rigorous academic standards, retention, completion, outcomes assessment, and the mastery of active learning techniques in the classroom.
Preference is given to those with previous community college teaching experience, particularly those with experience teaching agriculture equipment service courses.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
Ability to move about campus and other locations.
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to use tools and lift up to 50 lbs.
