This position is part of Helena’s trademarked AGRIntelligence (AI) program. This business was created to help guide growers’ business decisions and help them identify potential problems in the field before they take root. Our AI group focuses exclusively on creating new and innovative technologies to boost yields and leave a lasting impact on farms for generations to come.

ABOUT THE JOB

The AGRIntelligence (AI) Agronomist leads efforts to utilize data collected through AI to make the most advantageous recommendations to Helena customers. This position is also responsible for providing training to location sales teams to help them develop both basic and advanced agronomic knowledge so they can interpret and utilize AI data effectively for Helena customers.

This role also collaborates with other Helena team members to guide research for agronomic related projects and develop new markets for Helena’s many areas of business including Helena Products Group (HPG), seed, fertilizer and other third-party products utilizing AI to help solve customers’ agronomic problems.

Candidates must live in, or be willing to relocate to, the designated sales territory.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

• Works with Sales Representatives, the AI team, HPG Client Service Team and Helena Product Managers to develop sound agronomic fertility programs in their territories.
• Plans and presents at agronomic meetings to sales locations and customers to demonstrate the value of AI data and how this data can help position solutions using Helena products and services.
• Maintains current information resources by attending agronomic seminars to develop a network of university and industry contacts.
• Cross trains other Helena teams on agronomy practices and highlights the value of AI products, services and data to provide to Helena customers.
• Works with the AI leadership team to update soil fertility equations and tissue sufficiency ranges as needed.
• Assists in setting up research and demonstration plots.
• Keeps up with advancements in the precision ag/ information management industry and tests new field tools and technology.
• Collaborates with others to develop training materials and new reports/tools.
• Integrates other areas of the company into sales programs.
• Works with Fertilizer Managers to share data insights and highlight potential fertilizer opportunities.
• May be required to drive a company vehicle.
• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.
• Follows all company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural science discipline is required.
• Five years of experience in sales or agronomic consulting is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Crop Advisor (or working toward certification) is required.
• 4R Certification (based on territory) is preferred.
• Pest Control Advisor license (based on territory) is preferred. If this position is located in California, it is required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Self-motivated and a team player.
• Agronomic background and discipline.
• Ability to travel by various means up to 50% is required.
• Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
• Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
• Applicants for positions requiring any driving of a vehicle of any type on a roadway, must be 18 and possess a valid U.S. driver’s license. Applicants for positions requiring operation of other moving vehicles or interaction with heavy equipment must be at least 18 years of age.
• Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.

Successful completion of a drug test and background check

is required for all positions at Helena.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

The work environment for this position will be in an office setting and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, you could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.

This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists, bending and stooping for long periods of time, working below knee levels for short periods of time and working above shoulder level for short periods.
