Location: Regional – various locations. UK and some Overseas travel required
Job Purpose: To manage the resource and efficient deployment of engineers within a Region, in line with contractual obligations and customer requirements, ensuring that the high standards expected of Clarke Energy are maintained at all times.
Majority of time spent: Managing the Field Service operational function in a Region.Responsibilities:Manage, motivate and develop a regional team of Service Engineers and Apprentices ensuring that:
– team members are competent to perform designated tasks, providing support, training and supervision as required.
– performance of each individual is reviewed on a regular and on-going basis and appropriate action taken.
– hours of work, time-sheets and other expense related activities are monitored.
– company policies and procedures relating to the employment of staff are observed at all times.Ensure that the Regional Engine Fleet achieves above contractual guarantees.Manage the Regions work objectives by
– planning and prioritising scheduled, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, in accordance with customer requirements, taking into account the risk of contractual penalties
– ensuring that contractual availability and/or performance standards are maintained across the contracted maintenance fleet in the Region
– analyse performance data for the purpose of continuous improvement of site operations and field service team
– managing the call-out rota for the region to ensure 24/7 cover is provided at all times
– ensuring that oil sampling is carried out in accordance with Clarke Energy code of practice, working with the Service Support Engineer to monitor lube oil quality and status and action prompt oil changes when required
– ensuring that Coolant sampling is carried out in accordance with Clarke Energy code of practice, working with the Service Support Engineer to monitor Coolant quality and action prompt Coolant replacement and quality management when required
– ensuring that company processes for chargeable and warranty work are followed and communicated to the Service Commercial Department.
– preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements in conjunction with the QUENSH Department as and when required, ensuring full compliance.
– unannounced auditing of Field Service team for safe working practices
– forecasting, and informing Parts and Overhaul manager of engine decoke and overhaul requirements.
– liaising with the Commissioning Manager about area commissioning requirements
– monitoring and controlling engineering practices in order to minimise costs and waste
– ensuring liaising with Clarke Energy Head Office as appropriate, and in accordance with agreed procedures and quality standards.Keep the Field Service Operations Manager fully informed at all times, escalating any issues as appropriate.Maintain and develop customer relationships by:
– being the first point of contact for the customers in the region, ensuring that regular meetings take place and that technical and performance updates, issues and/or concerns are reported in a timely manner.
– liaising over the scheduling of activities on site.
– ensuring compliance with customer procedures and protocols with respect to all works, including calls-out.
– discussing, reconciling and agreeing chargeable work with regional customers on a monthly basisTo complete the performance management process annually for the Field Service team ensuring that objectives and development plans are in-line with company goals.Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards and company standards are always adhered to and accidents /near misses reported in line with requirements.Ensure engineers are audited in accordance with Clarke Energy policy to ensure equipment and vehicles are maintained in a manner that supports and develops the industry standing of Clarke Energy.Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:INNIO Jenbacher Product knowledge preferred but not essential

In depth Knowledge of Internal Combustion engines and Generators.
A minimum of 10 years engineering experience with knowledge of both electrical and mechanical engineering.
CHP / Balance of plant Knowledge
Experience of building positive customer relationships.
Experience of successfully managing a team of remote engineers.
Able to lead and work under own initiative.
Good IT skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skillsDesirableINNIO Jenbacher Product knowledge
HNC/HND in Engineering and/or other relevant higher education qualification.
Engine Commissioning experience.
