Assistant Finance Business Partner

The Finance Function within Achieving for Children is responsible for delivering a comprehensive financial support
service that is tailored towards the needs of a successful children’s service organisation. The team works closely
with colleagues from across the organisation including Budget Managers, the Leadership Team, other support
services such as Human Resources and stakeholders from both inside and outside the organisation.
The Finance Team covers all finance functions including Management Accounts, Financial Accounts, Risk
Management and Transactional Processing with this role focusing on management accounts priorities.

About the role

Join our Management Accounting Team as an Assistant Finance Business Partner and play a key role in financial planning, reporting, and development across designated service areas. This position offers the chance to build strong relationships with budget managers, support with budget setting, monitoring, and year-end closing, while contributing to continuous improvements in our finance function. You’ll collaborate across departments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective children’s services and have opportunities for personal and professional growth through our comprehensive Learning and Development program. A proactive approach and the desire to enhance financial awareness and skills are essential.

About you

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in monthly management accounts, reporting, and trend analysis.
  • Background in assisting with budget and forecast production is beneficial.
  • Involvement in operational reviews, financial performance assessments, and follow-up actions is desirable.
  • Familiarity with year-end close down and statutory returns.
  • Ability to assist in financial modeling/costing for bids and contract negotiations.
  • Experience in aiding budget managers with their financial duties, with opportunities for on-the-job learning and training.
  • Proven track record of building strong working relationships and improving processes.
  • Keen on identifying process improvements and committed to value for money.
