Assistant Manager – KilkennyOur client, a well-established grocery retailer in Kilkenny are looking to hire for an assistant Store Manager.Main Purpose of the Job:Ensure the store operates efficiently and effectively and provides our customers with the very best customer service and fresh food offering at all times in a clean, safe environment. To deliver on key store targets (sales and profitability) through effective management of people and operations.Relevant Skills/Experience:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management position;
Must have Level 1 & 2 knowledge of food safety;
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word);
Working knowledge of the CBE system is desirable;
Experience balancing cash/tills;
Excellent communication skills;
Good delegation skills;
Highly driven with a strong work ethic;
An understanding of how to achieve KPIs and targets;
Commerciality and brand awareness;
Passion for grocery retail;
Thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
Main Duties:
Always ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority by greeting each customer
Develop and promote good communication between employees and management in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment;
Seek opportunities for personal development to enhance technical and professional skills;
Support the Store Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the store by prioritising and delegating the workload appropriately;
Foster good working relationships among the team and with local community;
Hold management meetings when required;
Ensure all employees wear their full uniform, name badge and display a neat appearance at all times;
Ensure all equipment is used in accordance with their instructions;
Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition and encouragement;
Deal with all customer queries and complaints politely, professionally and consistent with store policy;
Understand achieving margins in all departments;
Ensure the correct cost price is against local suppliers;
Implement planograms correctly and ensure the correct range is in place in store;
Have a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation as it pertains to the Store, in particular but not limited to, Food Safety regulations, Health & Safety regulations, sale of alcohol and employment legislation;
Ensure the store is compliant with the relevant legislation and implement procedures as required;
Ensure adherence to Store rules, policies and procedures;
Ensure all HACCP best practices are implemented across the store;
Achieve Service Excellence in mystery shop reports;
Ensure the adequate timekeeping and attendance of employees;
Manage employee rostering and annual leave and maintain accurate and secure records;
Ensure merchandising and presentation of entire store is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines;
Implement policies to gain operational efficiencies i.e. Gold reports/scanning information etc.;
Support Store Manager in achieving Retail Excellence Standards;
Set, monitor and achieve sales targets with the team on gross profit margin, net margin, waste and other KPIs as agreed with the Store Manager;
Assume Store Manager responsibilities in their absence;
Engage with new initiatives and embrace new ways of working;
Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time. These may be outside of your normal area of work. Furthermore, you may be assigned to work in other areas within the Store on either a temporary or permanent basis
