Assistant ManagerPurpose of the Job

  • To contribute to the turnover and profitability of the Fitzgerald Group by taking full responsibility for ensuring all customers experience a satisfying visit and receive the highest standard of goods and services by been attentive, responsive and anticipate the customers’ needs while creating and maintaining customer friendly relationships.
  • Identify any training needs of staff and deliver ‘on the job’ training as appropriate. Ensure the training and development of bar staff enabling effective job performance, teamwork attitude, and clear communications. Supervise and motivate your team to ensure performance of staff is developed to the best of their potential.
  • Use your skills and talent to manage all aspects of the smooth running of the hotel bar and make use of your experience to assist in the development and growth of the bar to its full capacity. Direct and coordinate activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximise turnover and profitability at every opportunity.

About the roleDuties & ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Guest Satisfaction:

  • Responsible for ensuring all customers experience a satisfying visit and receive the highest standard of goods and services while maintaining and creating customer friendly relationships.
  • Even in difficult situations make sure all customer complaints are dealt with in a friendly manner and within a reasonable time frame.
  • Report all customer feedback to the staff, ensuring speedy corrective action
  • Spot checking staff to ensure procedures are in line with the group polices

Revenue & Reporting:

  • Ensure all administration work required for the pub is in line with Group Policies and Procedures, Employment Legislation and Health and Safety Legislation is completed; in order to be present to the relevant stockholders or governing bodies should the need arise.

Inventory & Stock Control:

  • Assist in the control of stock levels and stock quality, including deliveries, ensuring that all stock control policies are adhered to, wastage control, storage, security and loss prevention.
  • Actively partake in any investigations that may arise as a result of discrepancies in audit reports.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensuring that all service areas of the premises is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure any defects are reported to the General Manager, ensuring that defects are dealt with in an efficient and effective way to restore to full working or operational order.
  • Ensure all areas of the pub are properly maintained and are within all health and safety and fire safety regulations. Manage all tracking and recording of same for any inspections that may arise.
  • Keep effective control on the security to ensure a safe environment for all staff, customers and to prevent loss.

Human Resources/Training & Development:

  • Liaising with HR in Head Office to ensure best practice is achieved with regards to recruitment, inductions, training and development and employee motivation.
  • Be aware of and implement all Group policies and procedures to ensure an appropriate code of conduct is maintained in all areas of the bar.
  • Monitor and ensure that all staff are aware and compliant with all relevant legislation in areas including but not limited to employment, health and safety, fire, licensing, gambling and tobacco.
  • Ensure all employee grievances & disciplinary issues are dealt with in a promptly professional manner as laid out in the Group Grievance and Disciplinary Policy.
  • Conduct, participate and engage in performance and development reviews on a regular basis with your employees and General Manager and undertake any training relevant to the role.

Operations & Communications:

  • Attend regular meetings with the management team and staff to ensure that all staff is aware of new products, promotions, upcoming events, training, customer complaints and allow feedback from the management and staff regarding work practices that can improve customer experiences and working conditions.
  • Ensure the best workforce resources and skills are in place to optimise the performance and service at all times.
  • Work in all areas of the pub to ensure best practices and procedures are maintained. Ensure measures are implemented for improving practices where required.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage your time effectively to ensure all tasks are carried out on a priority basis.
  • Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy, maintaining confidentiality at all times in respect of all Group related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • To carry out reasonable instructions given by the General Manager, Directors, Head office and any additional duties as outlined and detailed by the Senior Management team.
