Position Information 

Spring Farm Public School is a new and contemporary school in the middle of a rapidly growing housing estate near Camden, in Sydney’s south-west. The traditional custodians of the land are the Dharawal people. The school’s population currently comprises 864 students from an increasingly diverse cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. There is a 27.2% LBOTE (Language Background other than English) population, with students coming from 48 different backgrounds. The school has 46 ATSI (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) students. 

As the suburb of Spring Farm continues to grow, our student population will also reflect this growth. This exponential growth and highly transient community see the school’s student, staff and community populations grow and change each year. 

The school has the capacity to enrol 500 students, including 4 support classes which comprises of two multi-categorical classes, one severe intellectual disability class and one moderate intellectual ability class. Spring Farm Public School is built to support and enhance quality and engaging teaching and learning, where an innovative and collaborative learning culture is embraced. At Spring Farm Public School, we aim to provide quality and engaging education for all students; provide students with the academic and social skills to contribute to and create positive futures for themselves and the broader community. Students are afforded the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities in the Arts, Sports and leadership and public speaking opportunities. 

The school is focused on working with the 1.4 Assistant Principal Curriculum & Instructors to improve student outcomes in literacy and numeracy through collaboratively planning, effective assessment and feedback and rigorous data analysis. Teaching and learning will reflect evidence-based practice in the pursuit of excellence. Spring Farm Public school is committed to developing meaningful and collaborative partnerships between students, staff and the community. 

Specific Selection Criteria 

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with the proven capacity to inspire a team and drive data driven collaborative practices and enhance teacher capacity. 

Demonstrated ability to lead and build the capacity of individuals and teams and drive whole school initiatives to implement High Potential and Gifted Education and innovative practices.

Proven ability to lead well-being initiatives to support the diverse needs of students by building a positive and inclusive school culture that ensures every student is known, valued, and cared for. 

Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to build strong relationships with parents and the diverse community.

General Selection Criteria 

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policy

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
