As Associate Director – Network Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring network stability, performance, and service excellence across Moderna’s global footprint. You will lead Tier 1-3 support teams, optimize monitoring capabilities, and drive continuous improvements to maintain high-performing, secure, and reliable connectivity across all sites. This role demands a leader with a strong background in network operations, incident response, and process optimization, as well as a passion for fostering a high-performance team culture.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and oversee global network operations, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing connectivity across all Moderna sites.
  • Manage Tier 1-3 network support teams, ensuring seamless incident response, troubleshooting, and service request handling.
  • Develop and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting documentation, and automation-driven playbooks.
  • Act as Incident Commander for major network outages, leading rapid-response efforts, minimizing downtime, and ensuring effective stakeholder communication.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-driven network analytics and automation to predict and prevent potential network outages.
  • Establish and optimize the on-call rotation framework, ensuring 24/7 global support and seamless handoffs across time zones.
  • Partner with Network Observability Engineers to optimize monitoring tools and fine-tune alerting mechanisms across all global sites.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Leading post-incident reviews and root cause analysis (RCA), identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Mentoring and developing a high-performing global Network Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborating with the Service Manager to optimize ITSM processes, enforce SLAs, and drive ITIL-based governance.
  • Ensuring cost efficiency and service excellence by managing vendor support contracts, SLAs, and third-party service providers.
  • Maintaining strong TAC relationships with key vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, and other strategic partners.
  • Driving budget planning, cost optimization, and resource allocation for network operations, aligning with business growth.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • 10+ years of experience in network operations, incident response, or IT service management, with a strong background in managing global network infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership experience managing distributed teams, global operations, and on-call incident response processes.
  • Deep expertise in network operations best practices, observability tools, and ITSM frameworks (ITIL, ServiceNow, JIRA, etc.).
  • Strong technical proficiency in network troubleshooting, performance optimization, and change management in a large-scale environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to continuous improvement.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in GxP-regulated environments is a plus. If no prior GxP experience, the manager should be capable of quickly learning GxP requirements and applying best practices for compliance in network operations management.
  • Experience in high-growth, complex operational environments, particularly within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sectors.
  • Advanced industry certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Palo Alto certifications, or other network operations credentials.
  • Familiarity with modern observability platforms (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds, Kentik) and AI-driven network analytics.
  • A track record of driving automation in network operations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic resource allocation to align network operations with business growth.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset, with a passion for modernizing network operations through automation, AI, and emerging technologies.
