Small animal services include orthopaedics and neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology and diagnostic imaging, as well as in-house rehabilitation and physiotherapy. We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual, board-certified in Small Animal Surgery (ECVS or ACVS), who is passionate about delivering clinical and teaching excellence, is an excellent “team player” and has a strong interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young, progressive, and growing team of diplomates and residency-trained surgeons. UCDVH has a renowned research portfolio and strong research links with other universities in the US/Canada and Europe. Our very large clinical caseload provides opportunity for ongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged.Our hospital is facilitated with digital radiography, 32 slice Siemens CT and a brand-new state of the art 1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems, operating microscope, full instrumentation for soft tissue, orthopaedic, neurosurgery and interventional radiology, and a radioactive iodine suite. Our orthopaedic/neurosurgery and soft tissue services are extensively equipped to offer BioMedtrix total hip, linear/circular IMEX external skeletal fixation, Synthes internal fixation, Karl Storz UHD arthroscopy, and instrumentation for intraoperative fluoroscopy (eg, SUB) and minimally invasive procedures (thoracoscopy and laparoscopy). The successful applicant will work alongside a full complement of specialists and residents in training in various disciplines (ECVS, ECVIM, ECVDI, ECVP), including 3 ECVS-SA residents, and a large nursing team.
This is a permanent academic post with 50% off clinics time and great potential for academic development and advancement through outreach, research, innovation, etc. This post is particularly suitable for a small animal surgeon interested in an academic career and has potential for completion of PhD studies within the duties of the post.95 Associate Professor € 78,333€ – € 110,623 or 95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar €60,261 – € 95,425Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelinesClosing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on the 29th of April 2024Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified.
