Insight Global is seeking a Business Analyst to join a large retail client in Vancouver to support their Data and Analytics team. The Data & Analytics team collaborates closely with business partners and internally to build scalable products for consumptions via standard reporting mechanisms. This Business analyst would be assigned to perform a discovery exercise for the data and analytics teams business partners in People & Culture (P&C). They will be tasked to develop a business case for analytics needs for the P&C business function. This discovery Scope could include questions such as: What are the current data needs? What are the current reporting mechanisms? What are the data sources? This will help formulate a discovery charter and deliver a business case for a project that will be deployed at a later time. The primary responsibility will include gathering requirements to build a data lake to allow automated data pulling from the P&C teams Workday system. They will closely collaborate with solution architects, business stakeholders in people and culture, and other stakeholders in the data and analytics team.
On a day to day, you will be:
Leading the discovery of new data foundational and/or business-initiated projects and gathering requirements using effective business analysis techniques
Consulting with stakeholders and acting as a conduit between stakeholders and the technical squad including Architect, Technical Team etc.
Translating business requirements into detailed and actionable specifications and requirements documents
Creating understandable visual representations to communicate complex concepts and models for various target audiences
Documenting business processes during the investigation and discovery with stakeholders or other parties to create certified documents used by the enterprise in terms of functional knowledge
Organizing and facilitating user acceptance testing with business users
Identifying and documenting current and future business process, changes, and improvements to facilitate change management
Facilitating and managing stakeholder engagement

Skills and Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, related to Data & Analytics
- Experience with working in Agile/waterfall methodologies
- Experience creating process flows for Data & Analytics projects
- Experience building data models with BI
- Understanding of Data & Analytics workflows
- Understanding of data models (ERDs)
- Knowledge of systems like workday
- Ability to understand the business processes in the technical landscape of Data & Analytics and help translate into an actionable document for the development team - Visio or Miro experience
- Retail and/or sporting goods industry experience
- Familiarity with the Data & Analytics product lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Jira
- Understanding of SAP for sourcing data null
