The Business Analyst (BA) utilizes a strong business orientation and strong IT technical skills to solve business challenges. The BA has skills and experiences in the following areas: Elicitation and Documentation of Requirements for Technology Projects, Knowledge of Technical Systems, Support for the Agiel Development Methodology, Broad Spectrum of Analytical Skills.
Principal Responsibilities
- Business Analysis – The BA works with the business to capture and document requirements (both functional and non-functional) using a range of techniques such as workshop facilitation, document analysis, job shadowing, use cases, scenario modeling, task and workflow analysis. These requirements must be aligned to the strategic and tactical goals of the project and the business area. They must also be completed and delivered in time to allow design and delivery of the system to meet the business needs.
After the requirements are created, they are documented. For Agile project work, the requirements are a part of a clear, managed and prioritized backlog. For Waterfall project work, the requirements are written in a Business Requirements Document (BRD).

Supporting the Agile Development Methodology – The Business Analyst is typically the third leadership component of Agile development, along with the Product Owner and Scrum Master. The BA must be able to step in to cover the responsibilities of both of those roles, when necessary. This work includes: Supporting pre-project business problem elicitation, feasibility and business case definition for large or complex technology projects, Identifying and documenting business requirements, Demonstrating the business value of the team’s work, Supporting project management (Scrum Master) tasks

Works with the business to determine the real issue to be solved or the opportunity to do things differently.

Translates product requirements into user stories, functional specifications and acceptance criteria to be included in the development roadmap.

Understands the concepts of the user persona, use cases and customer experience.

Provides subject matter expertise on the business unit, associated processes and systems, and business analysis best practices to all relevant team members.

Calculating and documenting simple cost savings and cost avoids.
-
Delivers the required documentation during each stage of the project or sprint.

Provides input to RFI and RFP documents and assists in the assessment of responses.

Broad Spectrum of Analytical Skills – The Business Analyst must be skilled in multiple types of analysis. This includes:

Business Acumen – having a solid knowledge of the specifics of the business areas related to a single Agile team, understanding the overall credit union business model and having a strong sense of what is required to run a successful business.

Financial Acumen – having a solid understanding of the key areas of corporate finance and how credit unions make money.

Data Analysis – Understanding how available data can be used to make decisions that are financially sound and support the best interests of the Member.

Business Process Reengineering – Applying the skills from the above areas to optimize efficiency and reliability; solving complex business problems.

Familiarity with credit union products and services. Understands how daily tasks and workload support the specifics goals of the business area and strategic goals of the organization.

Demonstrate a clear understanding of processes and business needs for areas related to assigned projects.

Identifies and communicates cost savings and cost avoids related to changing processes for business partners.
-
Assists Product Owner in evaluating the financial impacts of items to be added and prioritized on the backlog.

Perform ad-hoc data analyses and generate insights for the team, using available data.
-
Extract and monitor metrics to identify trends and patterns that may lead to opportunities for improvements to processes and systems.

Assists Product Owner in utilizing available data to evaluate the Member impacts of items to be added and prioritized on the backlog.

Demonstrates strong analytical ability, conceptual thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Also has an investigative mentality and a strong process orientation.

Develops and maintains process documentation. When required, can discover and document the as-is process using appropriate process modeling techniques for moderately complex processes.

Knowledge of Technology Systems – A Business Analyst has a strong IT Technical orientation in addition to strong business orientation. A BA is familiar with general systems architecture, including:

Complete assignments within expected timeframes with some supervision. Assignments are typically more limited in scope. Clarify assignments, as needed, with Product Owner, Scrum Master or BA Manager. Work independently or closely with others, as the needs of the project dictate. Approach to work should be transparent and flexible, to meet the changing needs of the project.

Actively participates in all team meetings, including standups. Follow tasks through to completion and keep team informed of progress.

The pay rate for this role is $86,800 to $119,300. If you are hired at Partners FCU, your final base pay will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.
