Additionally for BT’s network assets BT pays cumulo business rates of £350 pa. Property & Facilities Services (P&FS) are responsible for business rates and cumulo rates across BT Plc.
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of business rates saving opportunities across the BT estate to reduce BT’s business rates liability. The role will work with BT’s outsourced business rates partner to deliver the savings and the role will also take the lead in developing processes and procedures for forthcoming duty to notify legislation.This is an exciting role working across both the huge BT estate portfolio and at the centre of the BT property team.What you’ll be doing

  • Leading on business rates for P&FS, working both across P&FS and the wider BT stakeholders group to capture and optimise opportunities.
  • Proactively integrating business rates with all P&FS teams (strategy, projects, property management) to ensure business rates opportunities are captured.
  • Leading, developing and delivering specific projects to enable business rates savings and identify a future pipeline of opportunities.
  • Managing BT’s outsourced business rates partner to deliver business rates savings.
  • Minimising business rates risk across the portfolio, recommending and delivering measures to minimise liability risk.
  • Leading on business rates professional development for the property team to broaden knowledge of business rates opportunities.
  • Compilation of Cumulo MCC data, resolution of VOA enquiries and information provision for business rates appeals.
  • Leading on development and rollout of internal BT processes for to maintain compliance with duty to notify legislation.

The experience you’ll need

  • Knowledge of business rates including receipts & expenditure valuation methodology.
  • Knowledge of BT’s regulatory accounts (RFS) and Openreach product portfolio
  • Previous experience of working in regulatory and or competition finance is desirable but not essential
  • Relationship management: strong relationship management skills. To build a network of stakeholders both within the property team and wider across BT Group.
  • Supplier management: strong supplier management skills to manage BT’s outsourced business rates partner.
  • Financial acumen: understand of company accounts and valuation of assets.
  • Process development: able to design, deliver and communicate processes to a wide stakeholder audience.
