Job description
We are seeking a Calibration Engineer to join the validation team at our client’s Galway laboratory, where testing and technical support are provided for the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. The role demands a high level of technical expertise and project management capabilities.Reporting Line: This role reports directly to the Validation Supervisor.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update calibration procedures, guidelines, and forms to align with relevant standards and regulations.
- Carry out routine calibrations on measurement and testing instruments.
- Review and validate calibration certificates.
- Oversee timely calibrations in accordance with schedules, proactively planning to avoid conflicts with lab operations.
- Maintain up-to-date records in the equipment calibration database.
- Manage and drive completion of calibration-focused projects.
- Assist the Quality team with audits, investigations, and documentation updates.
- Create and maintain uncertainty budgets for measurement equipment.
- Train personnel on calibration processes and associated documentation.
- Support procurement of lab equipment and contribute to related documentation development.
- Participate in lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 3 years of hands-on calibration experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a regulated environment.
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Technical writing experience.
- Knowledge of measurement uncertainty and its applications.
- Experience with Six Sigma and Minitab is advantageous.
