We, therefore, welcome all people with talent who recognize the added value of diversity and an inclusive organization. #weArt.The research unit Intermedia from LUCA School of Arts, Campus Sint-Lukas Brussels, offers one funded full-time Post-doctoral position, situated within the domain of audiovisual arts.PROJECTThe research unit Intermedia expresses his interest in and sees a lot of potential in a long list of research topics that span from technological issues (AR, VR, and the use of AI), over research into nonlinear narratives, transmedia storytelling, interactive documentary practices, collaborative film practice, but also topics on creation of or representation of cultural identity and environmental issues. With a long history of transmedia research, and a vivid research cluster in the field of expanded photography, we expect this Postdoc researcher, in collaboration with a senior researcher as supervisor, to also develop a strong line of research in the field of audiovisual arts.The objective of this Post-Doctoral position is therefore not only to disseminate previous research but also develop research collectives, develop connections with international research networks and look for European research funding.We expect the candidates to submit (4) a summary of their Phd (250 word) and (3) a short (one page) research proposal that demonstrates knowledge of the field and focus for a specific project to be implemented over the next 3 years.DUTIESResearch (50%)
- Actively participating in artistic research within the field of audiovisual art
- Acquiring external research funding
- Building international partnerships
- Disseminating (through publications, exhibitions, etc.) the research results (and processes)
- Contributing to the further growth of the research unit Intermedia
Education (50%)
- Designing educational activities, tutoring, or educational concepts to provide education tailored to the student audience;
- Mentoring students in the conception of both the artistic and the reflective aspects of research assignments.
- Managing assistants within a course unit or cluster of course units;
- Incorporating teaching assignments, within the specialisation in audiovisual practice.
PROFILE
- Holder of a PhD degree in the arts before the application deadline.
- Having the ambition and skills to become an outstanding researcher in your field of audiovisual art research and to share your knowledge in higher arts education.
- Having the skills, experience, and enthusiasm to co-develop a European research project, and to help to raise other relevant funding opportunities.
- Having the skills to complete a comprehensive, long-term research project within the given time frame of three years.
- Willing to communicate your research at conferences, exhibitions, and seminars through artistic presentations and publications.
- Willing to work closely together in the research and educational teams. Ready to play an active role within your research unit, cluster, and international network.
- Having research experience that contributes to the research cluster Intermedia is valuable.
- International research experience and an international network are considered a major plus.
- Operating actively as an artist, with proven artistic excellence within the field of visual arts.
- Having strong didactical skills; an understanding of how to create dynamic learning. environments for students. Having a demonstrable relevant experience in higher education.
- Willingness to further develop your professionalism.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English is required, in accordance with the language requirements applicable to higher education, or at least willingness to learn those languages in a short term. Before teaching courses in Dutch or English, you will be given the opportunity to learn Dutch, respectively English, to the required standard

OFFERWe offer a temporary, fixed-term appointment (100%) in the vacant position of Postdoctoral Researcher (scale 509) at LUCA School of Arts/KULeuven for three years.
