DescriptionApplications are invited for the position of Candidate CNS/CNS Palliative care in the Emergency Department (CNS PAL.M.ED) in the Nursing Department.The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist is to deliver specialist individual nursing expertise, education and a management consultation service to patients, their relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team in all areas of the speciality. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to nurse led quality initiatives which meet national, regional and local standards within the speciality.Palliative medicine services work with other healthcare staff to provide specialist palliative care to people who have been admitted to hospital. The range of services varies and may include: specialist patient care requiring particular expertise, such as symptom control; advice, support and education for patients and carers; consultancy and education for other health professionals; liaison with specialist palliative care services outside the hospital. The consultation intervention consists of a multidisciplinary team led by a specialist consultant; the team becomes involved in the treatment of patients, typically with a life-limiting illness, at the invitation of the attending physician and provides expert guidance on pain and symptom management as well as engaging the patient and their families in goals-of-care discussions and transition planning.Informal enquiries to: Ms Smitha Sukumaran, Assistant Director of Nursing, Ssukumaran@svhg.iePlease download the below Job Description for this position, as this will not be available online after the vacancy close date.
