  • Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai’i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.****

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Telecom Requests
  2. In process TR’s and assign to reviewer (Step 1)
  3. Review assigned Telecom Requests (Step 2)
  4. Prepare and attach documents to TR’s.
  5. Supervise students with
  6. WO 
  7. Prep (phones and accessories)
  8. Finalize WO for billing 
  9. Trouble Tickets (assist remotely or dispatch)
  10. Billing
  11. Manage and process Telemanagement Update requests and DTC requests
  12. Compile monthly TR’s to be billed for each month and prepare data for billing
  13. Inventory
  14. Maintain phone and ancillary equipment inventory
  15. Test, clean and package
  16. Schedule e-waste drop offs
  17. Notify when cables need to be replenished
  18. Maintain ITC phone and ancillary equipment inventory
  19. Replenish jack and asset tags
  20. Office Admin
  21. Monitor departmental phone calls and voicemails and assist users or forward to appropriate staff.
  22. Monitor departmental email account and take appropriate action.
  23. Manage Telecom documents 
  24. File
  25. Scan
  26. Destroy

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Functional knowledge of Voice over IP (VOIP) technologies
  2. Ability to provision and install VOIP telephones
  3. Functional knowledge of Voice messaging and other digital telecommunications systems
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and provide solutions using basic telephony knowledge
  5. Ability to communicate accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials
  6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  7. Possession of a baccalaureate degree or relevant experience.
