Responsible to/Report to:The post holder will be responsible to and shall report to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Specialist Palliative Care.Working Relationships:Liaise with all Medical, Nursing, Health & Social Care Professionals, Clerical/Administrative Staff, Service Users, External Persons, and Organisations as required.Essential Criteria:Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

  • Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
  • Have 5 years post registration experience and a minimum of 2 years in acute experience of which at least 1 year is within in geriatric nursing care.
  • Have the clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing learning and professional development

Desirable Qualifications and / or experience:

  • A relevant post-graduate qualification desirable.
  • Management course desirable.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (Job Summary)The Day Hospice Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Day Hospice program, ensuring it offers a secure and therapeutic setting for patients undergoing specialist palliative care and their caregivers. Collaborating closely with the Community Palliative Care Team and our Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Manager designs and implements tailored activities and initiatives to cater to the specific requirements of palliative care patients and their caregivers. By managing the program effectively, the Manager contributes to providing comprehensive care and support to individuals and families facing end-of-life challenges, fostering a compassionate and holistic approach to their well-being.HealthA candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.CharacterEach candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
