North DublinOur client a hospital based in North Dublin wishes to recruit a CNM3 Nurse Practice Development Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for career growth for the right candidate. This role requires a combined knowledge of clinical practice, project management, service management, continuing nurse education and professional development and evaluation of outcomes.

  • Facilitate the development of a continuous process of improvement in nursing practice within the Hospital Dublin and excellence in the quality of care being provided.
  • Strategically plan, develop and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with oversight of the NPDU and nursing staff.
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership, support, direction and guidance to all nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCA’s), and undergraduate students.
  • In collaboration with the ADON with oversight of the NPDU, the post holder will hold responsibility in leading and promoting nurse practice development initiatives and facilitating the implementation of evidenced based practice.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to adopt a senior nursing leadership stance, make an impact, and influence, energise and inspire others across the organisation.
  • Through effective leadership ensure the clinical areas in the Hospital to which undergraduate nursing students and adaptation nurses are assigned for clinical placements, provide optimum teaching and learning environments that enable the students to meet learning outcomes identified by NMBI and the HEI’s.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:Leadership & Management

  • Provide leadership on quality issues as well as manage and implement the nursing services quality assurance strategy by developing and implementing systems relating to quality improvement and co-ordinating associated monitoring mechanisms.

*Coordinate and participate in the formulation of policies, protocols, guidelines and procedures which will ensure that the highest standard of nursing care is provided within available resources.*Prepare work schedules which will achieve the objectives set for the unit by Director of Nursing/ADON overseeing the NPDU. Submit regular reports on targets achieved and, where targets have not been met, to indicate action taken.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in other NPDU’s within the Hospital, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, Quality and Qualifications Ireland, external examiners, third level institutions, and other key external stakeholders, in the provision of education and training programmes.
  • Lead on curriculum development and preparation of programmes leading to academic award and ensure such programmes comply fully with relevant requirements and standards of professional regulatory and academic awarding bodies. For example, Category 1 approval in line with relevant policy of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
  • Manage and coordinate regular reviews of programme content and material as well as teaching and learning methodologies, to ensure they are up to date and based on the best available evidence and research.
  • Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, leading and development relevant programmes initiatives. Facilitating programme evaluation and review will be a crucial element to the role with the development and implementation of programme improvement plans, and monitoring of corrective action taken to address identified deficits.
  • Foster an ethos of research and evidence-based practice across all areas of nursing.
  • Initiate, facilitate and take part in nursing research relevant to the service, Promote research awareness, application to practice within services and participation by nursing staff in Nursing research.
  • Registration with NMBI
  • Demonstrable commitment to patient Safety & Quality
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate acute care nursing experience essential
  • Ability to make decisions with excellent organisational skills
  • MSc Nursing
  • Management Course
  • Have completed a Teaching and Assessing course/programme/module
  • Demonstrate IT skills
  • Experience in teaching and assessing the Nursing and HCA Team throughout the last 2 years
