Location: Timberlake Farms

Schedule: Monday through Friday, including holidays.

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm or until finished.

Weekend rotation after completed training, once every six (6) to seven (7) weeks

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Job Description Summary

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for learning all aspects of supervising within various areas of the farm by working with the current managers, supervisors, maintenance personnel and all hourly team members. Will help the supervisors and or managers whenever called upon and perform any other duties as the need arises. Observing, performing and learning the above duties will prepare the trainee for the responsibility of being a supervisor over a specific area as assigned. Trainee must understand the interactions between Accounting, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Animal Welfare and Production. Position will eventually assume the role for all the hourly training including new hire training, scheduled training for Safety, Animal Welfare, and Biosecurity. Position will also be responsible for the facilities scheduled inspections for safety. Candidate selected will be expected to be an active participant on the farm, complete all assignments, and achieve all training expectations to achieve optimal performance. Must be able to work and accomplish job tasks without constant supervision along with the ability to improve team member morale. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent is preferred.

Experience: Experience is not required.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Prefer knowledge in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Travel: Minimal to attend training.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Farm Manager but may be required to report to varying Supervisors per assignment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Trains with Supervisors, Managers, Maintenance, Managers to learn all aspects of supervision within the Farm. (40%)

Trains and develops workforce. Coordinates training, trains, and monitors team members to assure quality of work and progression towards job qualification. (20%)

Observes behavior of team members while performing job and responds to potential problems towards the qualification process, and to ensure the safety of individuals. (10%)

Responsible for the daily, weekly, monthly safety inspections. (20%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a bio-secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to move items such as bags of shavings, feed buckets, bags of mortality, tools, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (concrete floor, shavings); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 300 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment:
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and ear mugs will be used as needed.
  • Chemicals Commonly Used: bleach, Roundup/GLY4, Synergize, Clorox Wipes, among others.
  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
