This is a multi-level position Computer Network Technologist I-G06 or Computer Network Technologist II-G07 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and requirements for the position.
Job Description:
A Computer Network Technologist I maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Configure, deploy, and maintain encryption devices on classified networks. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.

- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment.
- Assist with design or a portion of network that includes selection of hardware and software packages.
- Prepare or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Do you have meet these minimum requirements?
- B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or STEM related field additional 8 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with cabling and fiber standards.
- Experience firewall and access control list knowledge.
- Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities.
- Must have an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance (must be adjudicated within the last 6 years) to be considered.
- 10% or less travel may be required.
Highly Desired Skills:
- Ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
- Certifications in Security +, Network + , Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
- Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.
- Experience with telecommunication systems.
- Ability to work under time constraints.
- Experience with classified computing.
- Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance.
This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
