An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at the South Ceredigion Community Mental Health Team. Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant to join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking mental health service.Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership as we look to develop our mental health services to meet the population needs of Hywel Dda UHB.About usHywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and bordering counties.We have over 13,000 staff and together we primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We work this in partnership the three local authorities as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers. Our services are provided in volunteers, through:Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in HaverfordwestSeven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire Tregaron Hospital, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire. Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centresNumerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities servicesHighly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.Job description

Qualifications
Essential

• Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
• On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
• Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
• MRCPsych or FRCPsych or other
• Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
• Approved Clinician Status
• Section 12 approved

Desirable

• Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent

Clinical Experience
Essential

• Broad based experience in General Adult Psychiatry
• Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)

Desirable

• Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service
• Evidence of above average performance
• Additional clinical qualification(s)

Clinical Governance
Essential

• Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice

Desirable

• Knowledge of risk management

Research
Essential

• Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence so as to improve clinical outcomes

Desirable

• Evidence of initiating, progressing and concluding research projects with publication
• Research Degree

Teaching
Essential

• Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors

Desirable

• Organisation of further teaching programmes in medical education
• Training the Trainers experience

Management
Essential

• Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS

Desirable

• Evidence of management training
